According to BBC's lexicon of Teen Speak, SAFA is high praise on their side of the big pond, meaning: coolest of the cool, superlative version of SAFE (cool, good, sweet). Now you know.
Many customers asked for a painted version of our thick, thin cotton, Ricotta. Safa is it. We took color inspiration from the 'spatterware" look in kitchen items, originally enameled steel (late 1800's) but then quite popular in glazed ceramics during Art Deco and after. Some of the colorways were adapted from "brocante" pieces that we found in France during our antique dealer days. We always wondered if the splotchy farm washbasins were inspired by the pointillist movement in art, from about the same time. Or perhaps it was the other way around.
In any case this is a soft supple cotton that knits up quickly, with pleasing texture due to the thick/thin twist. Enjoy!
